Luxury Liner is the automotive industries heaviest aftermarket Mass Loaded Vinyl Barrier. Match up Luxury Liner with a closed cell foam like our Overkill or Overkill Pro , on top of your vibration damper to block the transmission of airborne sound waves such as road noise, engine noise, and exhaust drone!

More details

Luxury Liner is easily the best-in-class Barium loaded vinyl sound barrier, available for purchase in the aftermarket. When coupled with the use of a closed cell foam or "CCF" type dampener like our Overkill Pro line of foam noise barriers, you can expect dramatic noise and voice reduction on even bad roads and even in cars with construction that is not at all optimized for sound and vibration reduction.

Please note that the Luxury Liner product was modified in February 2010 and currently ships WITHOUT an open celled foam or "OCF". As mentioned earlier, you can use our Overkill or Overkill Pro products to function as the foam decoupler.

  • Sheet Thickness 0.3175cm - 0.635cm
  • Sheet Mass / Area 6.10 kilograms per square meter
  • Wet Gallon Weight 5.10 kg per sheet
  • Coverage 60.96cm x 137.16cm (0.84 square meters)

If you are in need of a car interior that just simply lets you forget that you are rolling along a road, with only the faintest inkling of engine noise coming through, to keep you in touch with your drive, Luxury Liner is the product that you must use.

This product is recommended for use as a layer that goes on top of an adhesive based vibration damper (Damplifier Pro) and then a layer of a closed cell foam based noise barrier (Overkill Pro), providing noise reduction barriers that kill even the most difficult of frequencies that can otherwise come crashing through, into a car interior.

Special Note – Luxury Liner needs a special vinyl based adhesive that can be purchased from just about any hardware store. It will however not adhere when used with spray adhesives.

The quieter your car is the louder your stereo system will appear to be.

Because Luxury Liner does such a good job at killing road noise, engine noise and exhaust drone, the stereo has less sonic territory to fight for. With less unwanted noise the vehicle, the music has nothing to compete with so it sounds louder to the listener.

Luxury Liner is the second best thermal insulation mat we sell. Adding a layer of Luxury Liner on top of Damplifier Pro is by far, one of the best ways you can treat noise and heat at the same time.

For the ultimate in themal insulation, use a combination of Damplifier Pro followed by Luxury Liner Pro in side the car, with a layer of Thermal Block facing any heat source (engine / exhaust, etc).

Does Luxury Liner come with a foam backing?
Not any more. Our previous version of Luxury Liner used to have a closed cell foam attached to it, but now, we increased the weight of the vinyl by 20% and lowered the price. If you want a Mass Loaded Vinyl with a closed cell backing, look at our Luxury Liner Pro!

What is the difference between Luxury Liner and Luxury Liner Pro?
Luxury Liner and Luxury Liner Pro share a very similar heavy vinyl barrier, but Luxury Liner Pro is a 1 lb psf mass loaded vinyl (MLV) barrier bonded to a water resistant closed cell foam (CCF) while regular Luxury Liner is a 1.25 lb psf mass loaded vinyl (MLV) with no foam backing.

Why must I apply Luxury Liner to a foam before putting it on top of my automotive vibration mat?
We recommend applying Luxury Liner on top of a closed cell foam (CCF) like our Overkill Pro, because the foam acts as a decoupler, and provide a change in density that will allow the airborne sound waves to reflect off of the mass loaded vinyl (MLV), away from your ears. Without the foam decoupler, a good amount of the airborne sound waves would pass right through the vinyl and enter the cabin of the car. The foam helps to increase the results the vinyl is able to provide.
