FireWall is a water based acrylic polymer, loaded with heat reducing ceramic spheres and thermal insulating glass beads. When applied to the sheet metal panels of a passenger vehicles, Firewall will reduce heat transfer and help keep the passenger compartment cool and comfortable. FireWall Ceramic Coating is loaded with vacuum sealed fillers, making it flame retardant in addition to being non-toxic and waterproof. Easy to apply with brush, roller or spray gun!
Product Usage Tips
Application Instructions
Spraying is the most efficient application method to choose for coating irregular surfaces. Prior to spraying FireWall, everything close to the panel should be covered and masked off for overspray protection. For an airless sprayer, you want at least 3000 psi, a 0.019” nozzle, and a hose less than 1 yard long. If you use our Second Skin spray gun, we recommend an air compressor with 5-6.5 cfm and 50-80 psi. A 6-gallon tank is ideal. If your compressor is not strong enough, try elevating the bucket higher than the gun and let gravity help out.
Brushing is the more popular choice for applying FireWall. Simply dip a paint brush into the bucket and paint FireWall on any metal panel that needs heat protection.
FAQ
What is the difference between Spectrum & FireWall?
Spectrum is a dense polymer designed to damp lower-frequency structure borne noises. While it provides thermal insulation, its primary purpose is to stop metal from vibrating. FireWall is much lighter. The key ingredients are loads of extremely small glass spheres that are very poor conductors of heat. FireWall Ceramic Coating is not rated for vibration damping, as its primary purpose is thermal insulation.
You can use both products together. Apply Spectrum as the base layer (at least 2 layers, 1mm each). Or choose one of the materials two depending on whether your focus is sound or heat. FireWall is excellent as a heat shield!

Whether you are looking to quiet down your hot rod, or make your daily driver comfortable as a luxury car, Spectrum has proven to be the most popular & most efficient coating on the market.
Here is a quick lesson:
Much of the reducible noise in any car is structure borne, meaning it comes from vibrations, like a wind chime. Unlike wind chimes however, our cars are not tuned to any specific musical frequency, so what we end up hearing is the road noise, engine rumble, and exhaust drone.
Stopping the vibrations on your cars metal panels is much like stopping a noisy wind chime with your hand. Once the vibrations stop, the noise stops.
Firewall is designed primarily to insulate from heat, but it kills virations in a very similar way as well; It stops the cars sheet metal from vibrating, thus, killing structure borne noise.
Firewall's key engredient, microscopic glass spheres, offer firewall an amazing level of thermal insulation. When applied at 3mm thick (about 3 coats) Firewall will insulate up to 200 degrees Fahreheit.
What is the difference between Spectrum & Firewall?
Spectrum is a dense product designed to absorb lower-frequency structure borne noises, as dense materials are more effective at absorbing vibrations and sounds. Dense materials, however, are much better at conducting heat. Firewall Is much lighter, the key engredient being a load of microscopic glass spheres which are extremely poor conductors of heat, making them more suited to thermal insulation
How long does Firewall take to cure?
Like all water based products, Firewall will take 30 full days to cure but will be dry to the touch in 30-60 minutes depending on the ambient temperature and humidity.
When can I put my upholstery back in place?
We suggest that you allow a minimum of 24-48 hours for Firewall to dry before reinstalling your upholstery.
Weight per wet gallon = 8 lbs.
Weight per cured gallon = 5 lbs
Coverage: 1 gallon = 20 sq ft @ 80 mils thick (80/1000) or 2mm
Firewall has an unopened shelf-life of six months, provided it's stored at room temperature.

*Firewall is water based and will not adhere permanently to plastic or fiberglass without first using a self etching primer.
*Application surface should be dry and free from rust, oil, dirt and debris prior application.
*Do not freeze and thaw more than twice. If frozen, do not mix until completely thawed.
